With a clear vision of how he wanted his salons to look Brett Holmes, owner of The Salon by Design, approached Thorden Glass.

The concept involved clean, stylish lines, with Brett wanting to seat his clients at a fashionable yet workable station with a full length mirror. This would enable the client to have a head to toe view whilst Brett and his team worked their magic.

Recognising that the work station had to be durable and hygienic, whilst also stylish, the Thorden team suggested 10mm low-iron toughened shelving carefully constructed with holes for storing hairdryers tidily and with glass brackets for invisible fixing using Bohle UV Adhesive. The lack of mechanical fixings and the ultra clear appearance of the low-iron glass contributed to the sleek look that Brett had imagined.
 

The 6mm silvered floor to ceiling mirrors give a full slender look, complementing the stylish layout of the salon, and a custom built all-glass cabinet for the hair wash stations was cleverly constructed using 10mm low-iron glass with Graphic Glass block outs to hide the carcass in the lower section. Graphic Glass was chosen for its suitability for a wet area such as this due to its longevity and ability to always look as good as it did the day it was installed.

The end result is a distinctive look and feel for the two salons, in Tauranga and Mount Maunganui, which is contemporary and stylish, yet provides the staff with the perfect environment in which to work.
